ArtLoupe is a free mobile app that began its development in 2011, received an INNOVATION FUND grant from the Regional Arts Commission of St. Louis in 2012, and was a finalist in the 2013 Social Enterprise and Innovation Competition hosted by the Skandalaris Center at Washington University in St. Louis. Art Saint Louis is pleased to join in sponsoring the fourth annual chalk art festival, Chalk the Loop, in the Delmar Loop on Saturday, October 4, 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This year’s festival celebrates the 250th birthday of the city of St. Louis with a 20’ x 30’ birthday cake mural, setting a record as the Largest Collaborative Chalk Mural in the Midwest, under the direction of Chalk Riot. Chalk the Loop invites accomplished artists and novices of all ages to contribute to this historical event, creating their own chalk masterpieces on the sidewalks of the Delmar Loop. The all-day party features Dj Alexis, guest artists, Chalklandia for kids 10 and under, and more. A Grand Prize will be awarded for each artist registration category (adult, student, child) with numerous pop-up prizes awarded in all categories.
Cost for participation in Chalk The Loop is $10 for adults, $8 for students, and $6 for children 10 and under, and free for guests of artists and onlookers. Participating artists will receive a premium box of chalk from Blick Art Materials and a Chalk The Loop goodie bag. Meet visual artist Alex Paradowski, whose mixed media composition Good Overcomes was selected for inclusion in the new Picture of Health exhibition at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis Missouri. Picture of Health features artworks that embody, illustrate, or otherwise express concepts of physical, spiritual and mental well-being, addressing the question, "What is YOUR picture of health?"
Picture of Health runs through Oct. 1, 2014, and is free and open to the public 24 hours a day in the South Lobby of Barnes-Jewish Hospital. The exhibition features original artworks by 16 St. Louis regional artists. With its wide range of styles and expressions, "Picture of Health" aims to create an aesthetically rich, uplifting experience for patients, families and staff caregivers, enlivening and elevating the emotional and intellectual atmosphere.
