Please join Art Saint Louis for Honor Awards 2015 exhibition featuring new artworks by ten award-winning artists curated from our 2014 juried exhibitions.
Honor Awards 2015 features 56 artworks by ten St. Louis regional artists from Missouri and Illinois. The artworks include ceramics, drawings, mixed media, paintings, and photography. Serving as Curator of this exhibit was artist Margaret Keller, Professor Art, St. Louis Community College Meramec, St. Louis, MO. Keller is an internationally exhibited artist and art critic whose reviews and writings have been published in Art in America, St. Louis Post-Dispatch, New Art Examiner, and Review. Our Honor Awards exhibition is an annual exhibit presented to give our Award of Excellence-winning artists from the previous year's juried exhibitions an additional opportunity to show their newest or recent works and have them curated into a special ten-artist exhibition in the ASL Gallery. Although this is a curated exhibit, it is still highly competitive. For this exhibit, 26 St. Louis regional artists were eligible to submit works for curating and consideration for this show—those 26 artists were those who earned Awards of Excellence in our 2014 juried exhibits here at Art Saint Louis. Our Exhibit Curator, Margaret Keller, considered over 200 artworks in all media by those 26 artists, and her main task or role was to select only ten artists and the artworks to be exhibited for the final show. The ten featured artists in Honor Awards 2015 are: Lon Brauer, Granite City, IL Mark A. Fisher, St. Charles, MO Damon Gaspar, St. Louis, MOBeth Goyer, Des Peres, MO Kerry Hirth, Columbia, MO Russ Rosener, St. Louis, MO David M. Yates, Edwardsville, IL
FREE EVENT We also invite you to join us in the Gallery on Saturday, July 11, when we host a free one-hour Gallery talk at 11 a.m. with several of the featured artists from the current exhibit, Honor Awards 2015. Guests may enjoy complimentary coffee tastings courtesy of Mississippi Mud Coffee Roasters Cafe while learning about the artists and their artworks. Artists may bring in samples of their other work or present a brief demo of their media & techniques. This is a walk-and-talk presentation, so guests will walk with the artists through the Gallery as they talk about their works on view in the exhibition. Seating is limited.
