Art Saint Louis is pleased to present This Moment, a virtual visual art exhibition featured entirely and exclusively online.

An unprecedented convergence of crises has marked 2020 as a year of historic significance in the life or our community and our world: The COVID-19 pandemic, the widespread outcry and explosion of awareness of injustice ignited by the murder of George Floyd, and our country’s second economic recession in just over a decade. In this overwhelming set of circumstances, we turn to the essential work of artists to give context, purpose and perspective on the shared framework of our lives.

With this call for entries, Art Saint Louis invites visual artists at work in the St. Louis region to submit original artworks that reflect upon or are otherwise inspired by the impact, significance, complexity, profundity and meaning of This Moment in our lives as individuals, as a community, as a nation. We ask you, creators of visual art: What do you see in all of this? What images, scenes or symbols, what colors, contours or contrasts, what ideas, aspirations, introspections or outcomes are foremost in your mind’s eye at this time, whether born of hope or at hope’s end? In short, what captures the essence of This Moment for you?

For this juried exhibit, 50 STL regional artists submitted 108 artworks for Juror Robin Hirsch-Steinhoff's consideration. From those entries, she selected 48 artworks by 42 artists from Missouri and Illinois for this original exhibition.

The 48 artworks in this exhibition explore a wide range of experiences. Media of work includes ceramics, collage, drawing, mixed media, painting, pastels, photography, printmaking, textiles, and more.

This Moment is presented August 15-September 15, 2020, exclusively online here on our website, in a special Facebook album for the exhibition here, and on Twitter and Instagram; on the ArtLoupe mobile app, and in our new virtual gallery hosted by Exhibbit.

Congratulations to these five artists whose works in the exhibition were selected for an Award of Excellence by our Juror: Eve Dake Bayer, Molly Edler, Peter Gifford, Anne Kostecki, and Rodrick Whetstone. Congratulations to Barbara Holmes on the sale of her painting from the exhibition.

We invite you to view the artworks featured in this exhibit, and if you are interested in purchasing an artwork, please direct inquiries to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
