Art Saint Louis presents Maturity and Its Muse: Celebrating Artistic Experience, an all media juried exhibitpresented in the Art Saint Louis Gallery at 1223 Pine Street in downtown St. Louis, MO. The exhibition is presented April 14 through May 24, 2018, and opens with a FREE reception on Saturday, April 21 from 5-7 p.m.

Graphic design by Emily AmbergerGraphic design by Emily AmbergerThis juried exhibit showcases the talents of Artists Informed by Time. This exhibit was open to artists aged 70+ who, by making art, share their thoughts & ideas about the world and themselves with us. For this exhibit, 135 artworks were submitted by 49 St. Louis regional artists for consideration by exhibition Jurors Lynn Friedman Hamilton and Hannah Klemm from which they selected 51 artworks in a variety of media by 31 artists from Missouri and Illinois for the final show.

Artworks featured in this multi-media exhibit address all themes, styles, techniques, and media—the theme of this exhibit is actually the artists themselves. The 51 artworks featured include book arts, ceramics, collage, digital media, drawing, glass, jewelry, painting, pastel, photography, and more.

We invite you to take a sneak peek at the exhibit in our Facebook exhibit album here. All of the works  featured in the show can be viewed in this album, which also includes gallery views and highlights from our April 21 opening reception.

Serving as Jurors for this year's exhibit were Lynn Friedman Hamilton and Hannah Klemm. Lynn Friedman Hamilton is Founder and Executive Director of Maturity and Its Muse, a St. Louis-based organization that engages older adults and celebrates aging. Lynn has spent more than a quarter of a century organizing social group activities for older adults through Maturity and Its Muse. A curator, former gallery owner and entrepreneur, she has extensive experience in the arts. Hannah Klemm is Assistant Curator of Modern & Contemporary Art at the Saint Louis Art Museum, St. Louis, Missouri. Klemm previously was the Fisher Collection Graduate Curatorial Fellow at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, San Francisco, CA.

This exhibit is a follow-up to our 2016 presentation, Maturity and Its Muse: Celebrating Artistic Experience. We had such an enjoyable time presenting the previous exhibit that we decided to do it again in 2018.
