Gasp  January 11-February 12, 2025

 Please join Art Saint Louis for our first exhibit of 2025, Gasp, a juried group exhibit featuring new original artworks by 60 STL regional artists from Missouri, Illinois, and Kentucky.

WINTER WEATHER UPDATE as of January 10:

Due to today's additional snow and ongoing poor road conditions in the STL region, we are postponing the reception for our Gasp exhibition. What with 60 artists in the exhibit and some of them traveling to St. Louis from locations a bit further than just the STL metro area, we feel that postponing our event is the wise choice for all. So, please join us, won't you, on Saturday, January 25 from 5 to 7 p.m. for a free reception for this new exhibition.

Gasp does begin on Saturday, January 11, and continues through Wednesday, February 12 with regular Gallery hours (M-F 8 a.m.-4 p.m., Sat. 9 a.m.-3 p.m.). Closed January 20 for the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday.


Thank you for your patience and understanding and we wish you all safe travels if you really do have to venture out into the winter weather.

GASP EXHIBITION - FIRST SHOW OF 2025

Please join us in viewing our first exhibition of 2025, Gasp, highlighting more than 80 original artworks by 60 visual artists.

For this juried group exhibition, the prompt on our call for entries invited STL regional artists to submit provocative artworks that push boundaries with subject matter and imagery intended to shock, startle, surprise, confront, or disarm viewers. We encouraged all explorations and interpretations of the theme with artworks in all media, styles, and techniques. This show was open to artists 18+ living within 200 miles of Art Saint Louis.

 
NEW RECEPTION DATE

Gasp opens with a free public reception on Saturday, January 25, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m. Awards will be announced after 6:15 p.m.



EXHIBITION JURORS
We are honored to have the opportunity to work with St. Louis-based artists Dail Chambers and Nick Nihira as our co-Jurors for Gasp.
• Dail Chambers is St. Louis-based Award-winning visual artist, creative consultant, educator, community activist, maker, thinker, and grower. Dail’s visual art practice is a multimedia exploration in genealogy, women’s narratives and social environmental art. As a homeschooling, teaching artist she has traveled internationally, creating curriculum lesson plans to enhance and motivate inter-generational learning environments. Postgraduate Study in Women’s Studies, UM-SL (2008); BFA Memphis College of Art (2007); Associate Degree, St. Louis Community College (2005). 
• Nick Nihira, St. Louis-based artist, Professor of Art, Jefferson College. MFA Washington University in St. Louis (2004), BFA Columbus College of Art & Design (2002). 

Art Saint Louis is free & open to the public six days a week. Gallery hours from January 11-February 12, 205 are Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-4 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Closed January 20 in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday. Dates and hours subject to change. The Gallery is closed Sundays, Federal holidays, and between shows.

Sold artworks may be picked up by artist or by the buyer February 13, 14 or 15 by appointment during our business hours. PARKING RECOMMENDATIONS
Art Saint Louis is located at 2801 Locust in the Midtown Alley/Locust Business District of St. Louis, MO. There are parking meters that run 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Fines are steep ($20), so don't let your meter expire. Download the Parkmobile app to conveniently pay for and monitor parking meter via your mobile phone. We have limited free parking in the small parking lot adjacent to the building on the West side—please park in any open space, even those marked as Reserved. The Gallery is also easily accessible by public transportation with MetroLink and MetroBus with MetroBus stops nearby.
