Year End Thanks

Dear Friends,

The past year has been one of hopes and disappointments, but our gratitude for your support of Art Saint Louis and the community of artists in our region has remained as consistent as ever. Thank you so much for generous financial support and investments of time and effort in our organization.

Despite the ongoing pandemic, our gallery stayed open for the entire year, and remains open this holiday season. Although we were not able to host a public reception for our exhibits, we still had thousands of visitors view our shows each month. We just wrapped up presenting our 37th annual all-styles, all-themes exhibit, Art St. Louis XXXVII, The Exhibition. We will continue to present original exhibitions with the contemporary world in-mind when creating our themes for 2022, and hope that you will you visit the Gallery in the new year.

Your support of Art Saint Louis during often difficult times will be more critical than ever. Although we have been able to remain open, the pandemic has forced us to cancel our annual in-person fundraising event for two years in a row, making individual support essential for our continued success. And so we reach out to you with enthusiasm and invite you to join in advancing this good work. Please help us in continuing to support the community of artists in St. Louis.

Thank you for your consideration, and all best wishes to you for a safe and joyful holiday season.

Warmly,
Andrew J. Williams
President, Board of Directors
Art Saint Louis

Video Spotlight: Art St. Louis XXXVII

Thank you to
HEC-TV for their lovely video piece on our current exhibit in the ASL Gallery, Art St. Louis XXXVII, The Exhibition. Our 37th annual Exhibition features original artworks in ceramics, collage, digital media, drawing, fiber art, handmade paper, mixed media, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and textiles by 56 Missouri and Illinois regional artists. This year's exhibit was juried by Dana Turkovic, Curator, Laumeier Sculpture Park, St. Louis, MO.  The show remains on view in the Art Saint Louis Gallery in downtown St. Louis through December 16. Gallery hours are Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-4 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m.-3 p.m. We are closed for the Thanksgiving holiday November 25-28. And just another thanks to HEC-TV and especially Producer Paul Langdon for his work on the lovely video about the exhibit and Art Saint Louis.

Video Spotlight: Ordinary Lives

Thank you to
HEC-TV for their most recent video piece on our Ordinary Lives exhibition. Our late-Summer show currently on view in the Art Saint Louis Gallery presents works by 42 regional artists from Missouri, Illinois and Iowa. The 51 works in this exhibit focus on the details of ordinary lives and living--including portraiture and self-portraiture, images of childhood, parenting, family, relationships, family pets, and also includes domestic interiors, and images of otherwise average tasks of the every day such as laundry, stepping on the scale, brushing one's teeth. For this show, the artists have chosen scenes and images of what otherwise might seem plain and have shed a light on the things that make the whole world extraordinary and beautiful—especially when portrayed or depicted by the artist's eye and hand. The exhibit remains on view through September 9, 2021 in the Art Saint Louis Gallery in downtown St. Louis. We are grateful to HEC-TV Producer Paul Langdon for his work on this sensitive and beautifully filmed video piece.

Video Spotlight: Maturity and Its Muse exhibit

HEC-TV
celebrates our Spring 2021 exhibition in their most recent video piece. Maturity and Its Muse: Celebrating Artistic Experience 2021 presents original artworks by 45 St. Louis regional artists who are over age 70. Our multi-media show--created in partnership with Maturity and Its Muse--is currently on view in the Art Saint Louis Gallery in downtown St. Louis through May 20, 2021. We are grateful to HEC-TV Producer Paul Langdon for his work work on this lovely video piece.

Give STL Day 2021

Art Saint Louis is pleased to participate in the 2021 Give STL Day, 24 hours of giving to STL regional non-profits. This year's event will be held May 6. If you would like to support ASL, but don't think you'll be available on May 6 to contribute, we are pleased to announce that Early Giving is now under way. You can safely donate online here now or on May 6 and your contribution will help move Art Saint Louis forward through 2021 and beyond. We are proud to serve the St. Louis regional community with our unique programming and are grateful for your generous support.
