Chandler Branch's Blog

This week’s adventures started off with an interview for HEC TV’s Emmy Award-winning program State of the Arts. I could hardly be more grateful for the exposure for Art Saint Louis, an organization that, despite its 26 years of service to artists and the community at large, remains unknown to many people. That's soon to change, and not just because of HEC TV’s fine work, though that will certainly be a great help.

A View from the Edge

Know anyone who’s had a near-death experience? You do now. Art Saint Louis is charging forward these days with the kind of zest sparked by nothing less than a brush with mortality. We were nearly forced to close our doors earlier this year out of severe financial need. But our community would have none of that! My thanks go out to all who stepped up to ensure the future of Art Saint Louis. If the virtual rebirth of this organization proves anything, it’s that art matters to people in St. Louis. I get that at a gut level. It’s why I’m thrilled to be part of the next chapter in this organization’s 25-year history.

Exciting times are in store, my friends. The array of talent we’re showcasing in our gallery and elsewhere, including on our new website, the wide variety of programs and events we’re cooking up for 2012 and beyond, and the generosity and resolve of our board and other volunteers; these are signs not only of enduring purpose and strength, but of momentum!
